Basic Pistol Course – Price $100 | Schedule Your Class
There’s a good reason the Basics Pistol Course is our most popular class. It’s designed to introduce proper handgun training to both new gun owners, as well as owners who have owned their guns for years. Firing a gun can be startling. In response, first-timers can experience a fight or flight response the body’s way of automatically responding to what it perceives could be mortal danger.
For the beginner, (even if you’ve never shot a handgun before), we’ll tame any intimidation you may experience, and we’ll calm any fears you may have, and we’ll teach you the essential basics out of the gate. In the process, you’ll gain peace of mind and invaluable confidence in your skill set.
Often times, a well-meaning family member or friend will offer to teach a beginner how to shoot a gun. Unfortunately, that tends to lead to a bad first introduction. Frustration that they started off on the wrong foot in the beginning, and now have to correct bad habits. If you’ve owned a gun for years, but have yet to take the time to invest in your training, you are going to love this.
When dealing with a first time shooter, you have to help he or she get over their fears and nervousness. Shooting for the first time can be stressful, so it’s important that you make them feel as comfortable as possible. Adding more stress by talking to them aggressively doesn’t help them. The classroom session of firearm training is a very important part of firearm training.
Before we take anyone on the range, we teach the anatomy and functionality of the firearm which includes how to disassemble, clean, maintenance, and reassemble. Also, we do laser training to help improve shooting fundamentals such as: sight alignment, grip and shot placement.
In fact, I am questioned frequently about laser training. The most asked questions are: “How is laser training helpful because the gun has no recoil? How can the student prepare for the recoil?” My answer is simple for both of those questions; the laser gun is design to teach fundamentals. When any student is learning a new skill set, he or she must have a sold grasp on the fundamentals. Furthermore, in my opinion, yes, the only thing that can help the student with recoil is to shoot a real gun, but if you don’t know or understand the basic fundamentals on how to handle a firearm, the recoil should be the least of your worries.
The goal of this class is to provide you with the information and skill needed to operate a weapon safely and effectively in a very supportive, and encouraging environment. Our class instills confidence, competency, and courage in the individual gun owner. If you want to take the Basic Pistol Course, but don’t currently own a gun, that’s no problem! Owning a firearm for our training is not necessary, as we can make arrangements to provide a firearm at little or no cost. There is a small fee for ammunition provided that corresponds with the firearm. Minimum 50 rounds needed.
